Chengdu LIFE Announcements
|
Just a small notice to all new and old visitors: The only active and regularly updated part of this Chengdu information and living website at the moment is the ChengduLIFE Photoblog
This main site and the forums are basically dead until someone is willing to take over, as I don't have time to update them. So if anyone has interest in taking over and manage this site or the forums, or if you have an idea you could use this site for, do contact me. Anything is better than letting a good domain sit unused. ;) So go ahead and visit the Photoblog and enjoy the photos. :) Write Comment |

After a long period of inactivity, ChengduLIFE is back for good! I've made some changes on this site and added two new sites: ChengduLIFE Photoblog (Link) and ChengduLIFE Forum (Link).
The Photoblog will updated at least few times a week with photos from all around Chengdu. Anyone willing to see their Chengdu photos on the Photoblog, just email the photos to me and I'll publish them there.
The Forum is open for everyone to post about anything, but you need to register to post.
This main site (www.chengdulife.com) will be for news, articles and reviews of restaurants or clubs. User registrations on this main site are disabled because the publishing system is not too user friendly, instead get on the new Forum, which is fully featured unlike the old spam friendly BBS.
If you post an article or a review on the Forum, I can publish it on the main site too.
This site still needs more people willing to publish articles, stories and anything about Chengdu. If you're interested about moderating the Forum, or writing some articles, perhaps a weekly column about the nightlife, or anything and everything that's related to Chengdu/Sichuan, post a message on the Forum.

The editor will be away on vacation for the following two weeks, returning around the 23rd this month. My travels will take me to the east coast of China, Nanjing - Suzhou - Shanghai, to be exact. During this time there will be no new articles or news. If you submit something, please wait until my return to get it published. The Forum and Gallery will work as usual, available for all. Chengdu News

Due to holidays (and my trip to Mt. Qing Cheng), the news are little late. Well better late than never, here's some new Chengdu articles from off the net.
This article from Mercury News declares that: Amid the bustle, it's not hard to relax in Chengdu, well describing living in Chengdu and what to see while visiting here.
Today (31st July) was actually the Chinese Valentine's day, according to the Chinese Calendar that is. Still celebrated by the Chinese, it's nowhere as popular as the western event at 14th February. Historical details here.
Seattle Times has an well written story about the new train to Tibet, with important facts if you decide to take the train up to Tibet. Note that most of the tickets from Chengdu are already sold out up to September, with random seats still left.
Also Contra Costa Times has another article about the Sky Train. And from the same website, an indepth story about the Emei mountain, good reading.
You should also check the official FAQ about the train before going, with ticket booking numbers and prices for each starting station.
Okay, that's it for this week, I'll add that updates are a bit slow during my summer break, with traveling around and the sauna-weather of 40°C daytime highs are making people even lazier and more relaxed than usual... Write Comment |
