Everything started because I had a meeting... with my soul.
I had a meeting nearby a giant turtle, the tiyuguan in the heart of Sichuan Daxue.
The night was cold. I remember because I had to cross my arms on my chest to feel more comfortable.
I was walking around the gym thinking about what my life could be if I were a professional basketball player. When I saw it... Write Comment (2 Comments) |

This is the page for the pricewatch in Chengdu. We follow the prices of some common items, too see the cost of living in Chengdu. Currently the average cost of living in Chengdu is much lower than that of Shanghai or Beijing. The prices mainly come from Chengdu, but I'll try to include something from other places also in Sichuan. Write Comment (2 Comments) |

As I was quit bored again today I searched the net, not knowing what to look for, like I usually do. However without trying, I might have finally found an explanation to that famous Thai picture of a Naga. Anyone that've been in Thailand should be familiar to this phenomena; a 10 meter long monster, simular to the Hindu Naga or even looks like a Chinese Dragon, the kind they carry out on the streets during YuanXiao festival. See for yourself:
Those who know of the photograph generally agree with the caption above it which reads: "Queen of Nagas seized by American Army at Mekhong River, Laos Military Base on June 27, 1973 with the length of 7.80 meters."
According to the article, the fish is not a fake!!! Well, not to say it's quit what Thai swindlers say it is either. It's a dead Oarfish. I also never heard of it, which is strange coz it's supposably the longest fish known so far. What's funny, is that when this American dude was chilling in Thailand, he suddenly recognized his face amongst these so called Vietnam veterans. The guy only just reached his 30's!! The reason that fish looks so mutilated is because it grinded through a boat's propeller after it died and floated to the surface. The only mistery about this whole thing seems to be how these vendors got a hold on this photograph. The pic was taken in 1996 in California and only appeared twice in some local American newspapers.
Oarfish looks scary enough to me, they live in tropical waters upto 20 to 200 m underwater and grow upto 9 m / 30 ft long!!

China and especially Chengdu is a fascinating place. I have only been to Shanghai and Chengdu in China, and I liked Chengdu better. It still has some of that down to earth feeling about it and it's people. Write Comment |
