A real Chengdu delicacy, Leng Guo Chuan Chuan Xiang (冷锅串串香) differs from hot pot in that the food is served on sticks, prepared and cooked by steaming, then served in a spicy soup where it slowly cools down, hence the name Leng Guo, meaning cold pot.

Few photos from Renmin Gongyuan, People’s park. A very nice place to relax, located west from Tianfu Square.
Main entrance. These photos were taken in February this year.

Traditional architecture.

A memorial monument for the Sichuan Railway Protection Movement.

Fun for everyone.

And the usual bamboo photo.

Couple old slogans from the countryside.
A bit worn out but the basic message is: Observe food sanitation to avoid diseases.

This says: Environment protection is the entire peoples responsibility.

There’s two kinds of traditional hotpots popular in Chengdu, this one being of Chongqing variety which means the taste is more ma (numb) than la (spicy), with Chengdu style being the opposite.

Shan Zhen (山珍, lit. “mountain treasures”) is a type of non-spicy hotpot, with the main ingredient being mushrooms. One of my favorite delicacies in Chengdu, specially during cold winter days.

In some places they serve another kind of mountain treasure with the hotpot: Tibetan snow lotus tea, a traditional chinese medicine which grows only at the altitude of over 3800m.

A shan zhen restaurant.
